“The Water”
Something dark does dwell in the water
Below it rages with a force unimaginable
On the surface, the waters are still and serene
But what lies beneath is unfathomable
Rolling and rolling with a thunderous roar
Not seen and not heard above the lake floor
Bound and strapped,
Cemented in place
Not to be found
A missing persons case
A man in a boat on a leisurely ride
Does take in the beauty of the waters so green
Stops his boat to take it all in
Quiet and calm, peaceful, serene
When out of the water to his complete surprise
A decomposing body of a woman did come
Grasping his neck and wrestling him down
Into the water to where he would succumb
Something dark does dwell in these waters
It’s unimaginable, unfathomable,
But once again, the waters are still and serene
a chilling verse tale about what lies below the surface, PS. Very layered metaphor for horror fans, psychology fans… and of course, poetry fans like me!! Well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🖤🌹🥂
